"Among the Trees, Behold the Stars" Fall 2018

Fall is by far my favorite season ~ the cool, crisp air and changing sunlight, the deepening of the blue sky, leaves just beginning to transform color palettes, the gathering and storing of winter's cache by the forest critters, pumpkins and apples and acorns abound. The woods call to me all year round and especially in these autumn months. With great pleasure, I announce my Fall 2018 art installation "Among the Trees, Behold the Stars" at Allgood Coffee Shop (a place near and dear to my heart). Spring is here, love is in the air in our beautiful, lush Blue Ridge Mountains. Thank you to all of the wonderful couples who have entrusted me with photographing your weddings. There is nothing quite like the giddiness, the warm hearted excitement as families and friends gather to celebrate the union of two souls who dedicated their hearts to one another. totality changes everything

totality. nothing will ever be the same again. i am humbled by the magnitude of sensations that have been etched into the fiber of my being since laying witness to the total solar eclipse on august 18, 2017. i am in awe. the light shifted, the temperature dropped, the leaves cast crescent shapes of shadow and light. family, friends, strangers, people from all walks of life became kindred souls as we marveled and applauded in genuine elation. for that brief moment we all understood one another. to think that our moon, so small in comparison to the earth and the sun, could cast a shadow so large, so perfectly aligned, that it appears as big as the sun itself. anything is possible. totality changes everything. "Rays" of Sunshine

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Ray!! The sun was shining as billowing clouds passed overhead, casting notes of warmth and radiance in the mountains. Love was in the air. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the union of two of this worlds sweetest souls. The compliment each other completely. They have already endured so much together and are both stronger for it, in both love and faith. Their wedding day was filled with love, light and so much to be thankful for~ it was a true blessing to be a part of it all. Congratulations Rachael & Matt! Spring seems to have arrived early in Asheville NC this year!! Warmer temperatures, beautiful sunlight, and signs of early spring are upon us in these beautiful mountains. Seasons of Change

As the air begins to shift from the warm summer heat into the softness of fall, I find myself welcoming change in a different way this year. For me, the change in season is always a special time~ there is nothing quite like sensing the woods transform from the greenness and vibrancy of spring to summer into the colors and quiet slumber of fall to winter. Big changes in daily life have not always been as easy for me to accept. I guess this school of thought comes from anchoring into a comfortable routine and trying not to disturb the balance that has settled around me. That is up until now. Somehow, something miraculous is happening this time, on this circle around the sun. Instead of dreaming of "what ifs" there is a shift occuring, a launch on a journey that has been calling to me for some time. when i stepped out onto my porch this morning, i was met with a softness, a coolness in the air signaling the onset of autumn. my lips curved, my heart fluttered. fall is my favorite season. knowing that it is drawing near has my senses on high alert, my thoughts to the forests. i am looking forward to discovering the secrets that this season will unfold. change is in the air. ~ vickie

On this warm, partially cloudy summer day in the mountains of Western NC, I have a quote from one of my favorites rolling around in my mind~

"Nature is ever at work building and pulling down, creating and destroying, keeping everything whirling and flowing, allowing no rest but in rhythmical motion, chasing everything in endless song out of one beautiful form into another." ~ John Muir
